Thornton Wilder
This post is a tribute to Thornton Wilder. April 17 was his birthday. He would have been 125 years old. Wilder was the only person to win a Pulitzer Prize for both literature and drama. He recieved the Pulitzer for his novel The Bridge of San Luis Rey (1927) and the plays Our Town (1938) and The Skin of Our Teeth (1942).
Do you remember the first time you saw Our Town? Maybe you were even an actor in the play?? I can remember that at the end of the play I was dumbfounded. I had just seen a simple little play that had a profound affect on me. Simple? No! Casts are still performing the play all over the world almost a century after it was written.
