Jon Meacham’s virtual event

On Tuesday, Aug 25, 2020, at 7:00 PM, Jon Meacham will celebrate the launch of his new book about John Lewis. As an Atlantan, although non-native, I am very proud of John Lewis. Having heard about him since the beginning of the Civil Rights movement, I followed him with interest during his career. He was the Representative from my district so I voted for him on numerous occasions. A moment I shall not forget was when he led the first Women’s March in Atlanta in 2017. It was a dramatic moment when the wide ribbon of marchers suddenly parted to make way for Lewis, who was surrounded by aides and friends, to make his way to the front of the throng. He was not a large man, and he was a bit weathered-looking, but he walked the entire way to the Georgia Capitol to once again speak his convictions.

This event is sponsored by a book shop in Nashville. One must pay a fee to register. The fee includes a copy of Meacham’s book His Truth is Marching On. You may or may not want to participate, but now you at least know about it!!
