Kate Quinn’s new book
Today at the Sandcastle Book Club meeting, Martha Zink led the discussion of The Rose Code, by Kate Quinn. The novel was based on real women who worked as code-breakers at Betchley Park during and after World War II. Martha printed photos of the ‘real’ people who were featured in the book. Several club members shared their experiences touring Bletchley Park.
Quinn has a new historical fiction entitled The Diamond Eye, due to be released March 29.
The Diamond Eye is about Mila Pavlichenko, a librarian in 1937 Kiev (known now as Kyiv) who learns to shoot a rifle to defend her homeland from invading Nazis. Her success with sniping earns her the title of Lady Death, and her notoriety finds her in the United States on a goodwill tour. The action propels from there and becomes a tense drama where Mila must again fight for her life in another venue.
