Title: It’s Only One!

Author: Tracey Corderoy

Illustrator: Tony NeaTracey Corderoy pens a captivating picture book about the impact that small contributions — whether positive or negative — can have on communities.

Sunnyville is a beautiful town, and its residents are happy and cheerful. When Rhino tosses one piece of litter on the ground, he justifies it by declaring, “It’s only one!” Unfortunately for Sunnyville, this one small action results in big problems, and soon, this once wonderful community finds itself the victim of all types of pollution. Will Mouse be able to save Sunnyville before it is too late?

Corderoy masterfully tells this tale. It does just what this book should—it addresses a serious topic in an entertaining way, and very simply teaches the importance of caring for the environment and one another, all without being too preachy. Tony Neal’s fun, inviting illustrations provide the perfect backdrop for the plot, and will engage readers of all ages. This delightful picture book is made even better by the backmatter, which contains a note from both the author and the illustrator, as well as a multitude of tips to improve communities and encourage neighborliness.

Children and adults alike will appreciate this book and will think differently about the many types of pollution that can occur, and about the influence a seemingly small action can have on their own neighborhood. Although it is only one picture book, it will have a large impact on those who read it.
