Where in the World is Virgin River?

Virgin River is a fictional town in northern California, existing amidst the redwood forest and inhabited by a host of interesting characters. Robyn Carr has written 21 books set in Virgin River. The latest in the series made its debut October 13, 2020 and is entitled Return to Virgin River. Return is the first ‘Virgin River’ book Carr has written since 2012.

So why all the hype? Robyn Carr is a prolific and highly regarded romance novel author who began writing in the mid-1970s when her children were very young. They would sit on her lap as she typed. Little did she envision that she would sell over 27 million copies of her books and that they would be copied into 19 languages in 30 countries.

Now, her ‘Virgin River’ books are the basis for the Netflix series Virgin River, which began streaming in December, 2019. The show has had two seasons and will likely have a third. Fans certainly hope so because they love it. If you are tired of Hallmark movies, Virgin River is the next step. Friends have described it as “kind of like Dallas” and “maybe a little sappy”, but these same folks can’t wait for the next season. Hopefully there will be one!
