William Kent Krueger has a virtual event

If you thought Ordinary Grace was one of the best books you read last year, you may be interested in tuning in to hear the author William Kent Kruegar speak at an upcoming event on June 12, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.EDT. He will speak on his new book This Tender Land. I recently finished This Tender Land and am still processing it. At first I thought the story was simpler than that of his first book. By the time I finished it, however, I had many thoughts circulating in my brain. That’s why I’m looking forward to hear him discuss The Tender Land.

  1. If you expect “This Tender Land” to live up to expectations set by “Ordinary Grace”, prepare to be disappointed. It lacks the intriguing mystery, the rich character development, the skilful plotting, and the thought-provoking themes of “Grace”. Better to turn to his Cork O’Connor mystery series, which follow a police detective and his family through page-turning crime solving in northern Minnesota. You’ll love his family, care about their trials, and learn a lot about the Ojibwe (Chippewa) nation. I’m not a fan of the mystery/crime genre, but this series has me hooked; can’t wait for the next installment.

    1. Thank you for your comments, Madeleine. While I agree with you on your points concerning the characters, plot and mystery, I do think This Tender Land has just as many thought-provoking themes as Ordinary Grace. It’s a different book, to be sure, but it did not disappoint me. So nice to have read the same books and discuss them. That’s what this blog is all about.
