A debut novel that everyone’s talking about

The House in the Pines, Ana Reyes

Ana Reyes has just realized a writer’s dream. After her first novel was published, it was chosen as the Reese Witherspoon book for January! Amazing, right? Now, of course, it’s on the NYT best seller list. Who is Ana Reyes and what is her book about?

Ana Reyes received an MFA from LSU in 2015, at which time she started work on her novel The House in the Pines. Reyes currently lives in LA where she teaches writing to older adults at Santa Monica College. She says that teaching writing inspires her own writing. She loves her job!

The House in the PInes has gone through several iterations since Reyes first started the story. She reports that she knew she wanted to write about this house since she was eleven years old. Along the way, characters got changed and the plot thickened, so to say. The end product is a book that grabs the reader from the beginning and keeps her/him on edge until the end. Just think how you might handle the traumatic death of a friend and only a vague memory of how that death happened–a memory that haunts you and drives you to remember more.
