A surprising new biography

Another friend and blog reader Peg Michel told me yesterday that she is reading AND enjoying the newest biography about Senator Mitt Romney. While always thinking of Romney as a ‘good’ man, I can’t shake the image of him and his large family traveling to California in a station wagon with their German shepherd riding in a doggie crate on top of the car! At least, that was the ‘scuttlebutt’ at the time. Regardless, McKay Coppins contacted Romney about writing his biography; and, to his surprise, Romney did not say NO. Later that week, Romney sent Coppins 100 pages of his private journals. That email was the beginning of Romney: A Reckoning.

McKay Coppins has given interviews on several media sources. I found the one with Seth Meyers the most engaging. To listen to the segment of the show, click below.

  1. Being from Massachusetts Romney was a great Governor, and really started the idea of “affordable care”. He had some good moments as a Senator and was on the right side of some votes and I was always saddened when he seemed to pander to the far right. I look forward to reading this.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Astrid. I hope to read it soon, too. I think Sen. Romney may regret some of his decisions and wanted someone to set the record straight about his true self.
