An Anniversary

John and Colleen Darnell, a husband and wife Egyptology team, have authored a book about King Tut’s parents, Akhenaten and Nerfertiti. Sometimes overlooked, these two rulers’ reign is said to have ushered in the height of Egyptian culture. The book is entitled Egypt’s Golden Couple: When Akhenaten and Nerfertiti were Gods on Earth.

Yes, the above image is a photo of the Darnells. In addition to being noted experts on ancient Egypt, they enjoy dressing in vintage clothing. They are definitely an interesting couple, and they have written a very interesting book. The controversy surrounding King Tut’s parents is enhanced by their remarkable accomplishments. According to Kirkus Reviews , “In addition to chronicling the complex political, social , economic and architectural elelments of the history, the Darnells offer a touching portrait of family life…Riveting.” And to think, we know all about this history because of a discovery 100 years ago today!!
