Shall We Give Kristin Hannah Another Try?

Am I the only one who thinks that The Nightingale was Kristin Hannah’s only good book? OK, before you sign off from the blog, let me just say that it was, in my opinion, her best book by which all the others are judged and found to fall short. So, for those of us like me, we will have to decide whether or not to read The Women, Kristin Hannah’s newest book.

The book is about a woman who goes to Viet Nam during the Viet Nam War to serve as a nurse. According to reviewers, the first part of the book is action packed and gives a detailed look at the madness of war. Some promotional material advertises the emotional impact of the story and the bravery of our heroine. Another reviewer complained about the poorly drawn secondary characters and the blatant foreshadowing surrounding the ending. I think it comes down to this–if you like Kristin Hannah’s books (all of them), you will probably really like The Women. After someone we know reads it, we’ll have to ask them if it was as good as The Nightingale.
